#104 'Hayling Island' 8x10"
I was so lucky with the weather and light. The colours were gorgeous, and I loved the contrasted sandy spit with the deep turquoise blue sea behind.
I used fast thinly painted strokes to cover the board quickly, then go in with thicker paint over the top.
It's right at the south tip of Hayling but looking north - towards the South Down hills, really like this area and will go back.
Clare, this is lovely. Great light. The palette reminds me of landscape paintings from I'm not sure when....Joshua Reynolds' time? The water LOOKS like water. Great stuff.
ReplyDeletePresume this wasn't today? Light so dull all day! This is fabulous...really love it.
ReplyDeleteI love it, wonderful childhood memories of Hayling Island and this is magnificent. There is so much going on, everywhere you look. How long did this take you? Amazing you can paint this in just one day!

ReplyDeleteThe sky first took my attention, so well done! Then the contrast of delicate colours and movement of the sea and boats with the tree on the land in the middle distance. A painting so full of interest and perfect perspective.
ReplyDeleteWow! Such great comments, thank you Caroline, Jenifer, Samantha, Ebbybow. Jennifer, it was two days previous, sometimes especially with the plein air work I like to wait before I post it, to look it again and maybe add some thicker paint, which I did 2 days later and then posted it. Samantha - it took one and a bit sessions :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely, full of movement fabulous clouds
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Atleechna!
