Daily Painting #2 'Orange' 5x7" oil on board

I painted this in a similar way to the 'Lemon' but the light direction was slightly different and it changed the shadow shape. I want to experiement with using the lamp to light the subject in a pleasing way before I start painting!

I had more expectations than painting no. 1 with the Lemon, so it was trickier to do.

But it still got me out into the studio painting when I probably wouldn't have considering we had family commitments.

  1. Second painting complete. Well done for making time to do it with a busy day.
Interesting that after one painting you have 'expectations', understandable though.

Even though you are doing an individual painting every day, do you see it as a direct follow on? (Hence the expectations?)

yes, the light source is more to the front and top than the side as per the lemon, so the shadow is different. Still exquisite :-)

The lovely bright oranges and lemons in your first two paintings inspired me to do a citrus still life.
